Yesterday, we went to the annual Santa Clause parade, which is a big deal here in the city. One thing that struck me as neat is the fact that during the parade local food banks collect money and non-perishable food items from those lining up Duckworth Street. And I mean they collect truckloads (literally) of food. There are very few places that so openly acknowledge that the need for food is indeed great for many, many people in the city and not just at this time of the year.
